All firefighter certification courses are conducted through our State Charter.
The State of Ohio basic minimum requirement for a volunteer firefighter. Students learn entry level knowledge of the fire service in the areas of ladders, ventilation, personal protective equipment, hoses and water movement.
The Ohio Administrative Code includes an option for firefighters certified as a Volunteer Firefighter to transition from the Volunteer Firefighter certificate to a Firefighter I certification. The Firefighter I Transition Course is designed to meet NFPA 1010 standards.
The Firefighter I certification is the minimum level of certification recommended to provide firefighting services in the State of Ohio. To be eligible for a Firefighter I certification students must complete one hundred-sixty (160) hour course provided by an Ohio chartered fire training program. The Firefighter I Course requirements meet or exceed the nationally recognized standard, NFPA 1001: Standard for Fire Service Professional Qualifications.
The Ohio Administrative Code includes an option for firefighters certified as a Firefighter I to transition Firefighter II. The Firefighter II Transition Course is designed to meet NFPA 1010 standards.
The Firefighter I&II course combines both Firefighter I & II into one course. This course is formally known as the "240" program and is the highest certification available in Ohio. This course is desinged to meet NFPA 1010 standards.
All Instructor certification courses are conducted through our State Charter.
This course is designed to meet all JPR requirements set forth by the Ohio Department of Public Safety. Students must have held a current and valid EMS provider, Firefighter, and/or Fire Safety Inspector certification for at least 5 of the last 7 years and may only teach in the respective discipline in which they are certified.
This course meets the requirements set by the Department of Public Safety, Division of EMS in rule 4765-21-03 (C) of the Ohio Administrative Code and is designed as an initial training course for the fire instructor who will be instructing students participating in live fire training as part of an initial firefighter certification program through an authorized Ohio chartered fire training program.
All Inspector certification courses are conducted through our State Charter.
This course is designed to meet the requirements for Fire Safety Inspector II as prescribed by the O.A.C. 4765-20-03 and NFPA 1031. Students will gain an understanding of the fire inspector's role in code enforcement, general fire prevention practices, fire safety requirements related to hazardous materials, electrical systems and fire protection systems as well as the necessary skills to conduct fire safety inspections.
